About Mother and Child care service

All deliveries and children born at Aklesia hospital are attended by the paediatrician in the well-equipped delivery full support to the mother in all specially trained neonatal nurses provide full support to the mother in all aspects of taking care of a newborn baby including helping in breastfeeding, bathing, and cleaning and other day-to-day care.
Before discharge from the hospital, the baby receives any necessary vaccinations.
After discharge from the hospital the pediatrician the child regularly in the outpatient clinic, to provide regularly vaccinations and to follow the child’s growth and development.

Sick babies:
For sick neonates, we have a well-equipped neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) with specialized staff.

Maternity Package

The sr.aklesia memorial hospital maternity package covers the 3 important stages of your preparation: antenatal care, delivery and postnatal care.

Maternity package has two options:
  1. Normal delivery package.
  2. Elective cesarean package.

Normal delivery package.

Ante-natal care

  • Up to 10 hospital visits.
  • Laboratory test (full blood count, blood group, rhesus. factor, hepatitis B, syphilis test, HIV screening test, Urine check).
  • Pre-test counseling.
  • 4 prenatal instruction classes with a physiotherapist.

Delivery

  • 3 days’ hospitalization for mother and baby.
  • Normal ward procedures.
  • Labor ward changes
  • Labor induction medication if necessary
  • Midwife, pediatrician and doctors’ visits
  • Child immunization after delivery (BCG & polio)
  • Pain medication in the ward and at discharge.

Post-natal care

  • 2 postnatal visits at 2 and 6 weeks
  • The postnatal period can be defined as the first 6-8 weeks after birth.
  • Midwifery care may apply for the whole or part of the postnatal period.
  • If everything is well with you and your baby and depending on the type of birth you’ve had, you will normally be discharged home

Elective Cesarean package.

Ante-natal care

  • Up to 10 hospital visits.
  • Laboratory test (full blood count, blood group, rhesus. factor, hepatitis B, syphilis test, HIV screening test, Urine check).
  • Pre-test counseling.
  • 4 prenatal instruction classes with a physiotherapist.
  • Weekly pre-natal exercise classes with a physiotherapist.
  • 2 ultrasound examinations.
  • 3 months’ prescription of iron & one month of calcium supplement.

Cesarean section

  • 5 days’ hospitalization for mother and baby.
  • Normal ward procedures.
  • Operating ward changes
  • Obstruction registration and pediatrician visits.
  • Child immunization after delivery (BCG & polio)
  • Pain medication in the ward and at discharge.

Post-natal care:

  • 2 postnatal visits at 2 and 6 weeks
  • The postnatal period can be defined as the first 6-8 weeks after birth.
  • Midwifery care may apply for the whole or part of the postnatal period.
  • The BCG vaccine will be offered to all babies born at SAMH.
  • If everything is well with you and your baby and depending on the type of birth you’ve had, you will normally be discharged home
